 The MVC band department has announced its concert season for the 2011-12 school year with an opening concert 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Bueker Middle School.  The band is under the direction of Garry Anders, Charles Ferguson, and Chuck Appleton.

 The first concert will feature three movements of “Symphonic Suite” by Clifton Williams, “Selections from The Wizard of Oz,” arranged by James Barnes, “Concert Dance and Intermezzo” by Claude T. Smith and conducted by Chuck Appleton, and “Blue Bells of Scotland” with featured soloist Kevin Lines on euphonium.

 Additional performances by the concert band will be held November 8, February 28 and April 24.  All concert band performances will be held at Bueker Middle School in the Harold Lickey Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

 The MVC Jazz Ensemble will perform three concerts beginning Thursday Oct. 20, and continuing on January 19, and April 26. The Fifth Annual MVC Jazz Festival will occur on Saturday, January 21from 12:30 to 6 p.m. and is open to the public. Area middle and high school bands will perform followed by a performance by the MVC Jazz Ensemble. All jazz concerts will be held in the Eckilson-Mabee Theater on the campus of Missouri Valley College and start at 7:30 p.m.

 Doors for all performances open at 7:15.  The concerts are free and open to the public.
