To start the weekend, the Missouri Valley Rodeo team will be hosting their one and only home rodeo of the year. The MVC Viking Stampede is Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Saline Co. Fairgrounds. Tickets are $4 for MVC students and $8 for adults. For anyone who is wearing the new rodeo T-shirts that the rodeo students are currently selling during lunch hours, they will get in free ONLY Thursday night. The T-shirts are currently being sold for $15 each.
Thursday evening (Sept. 22), an MVC Women’s Wrestling match will start at 7 p.m. in the Burns Athletic Center.
On Saturday, the rodeo team also will be hosting an Exceptional Rodeo at the fairgrounds from 1-3 p.m. For more information on that, call Nathan Shavers at 660-216-9116 or Jessie Pratt at 573-870-0438.
On Saturday, the MVC Women’s Volleyball team is kicking off the day with its game against Avila University. The junior varsity games start at noon and 1 p.m, and varsity game starts at 2:30 p.m.
Then the tailgating fun will begin, with music, food, and giveaways. Starting at 3 p.m. in the tailgating area, there will be live entertainment from the Dueling Pianos. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., parents and MVC students can enjoy a free BBQ with the Family Weekend ticket. Otherwise, it is $5. Those who are over the age of 21 will be able to drink alcoholic beverages in the designated tailgating area only.
The Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Ferguson Center will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will move to game side from 6 p.m. to halftime.
The Viking Football team will be going up against a team from Baker University, with kick-off at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students and children. There is free admission for college students with college IDs.
To complete the weekend, the MVC Men’s Soccer team will be playing Madonna University Sunday at 1 p.m.
