Story by James O’Sullivan
The Missouri Valley College Flatliners Improv troupe performed in the MVC Café for a special show during the Convocation week.
The Flatliners are a comedy group made up of seven MVC students who perform every few weeks in the Morris Experimental Theatre behind Mac Hall. All of the shows are free but they do accept donations, and all of the donations are appreciated. Their performances are similar to the old TV show “Who’s Line is it Anyway.”
The group comes out of a class that is open to all students and meets at 12:15 on Tuesday and Thursday in the Morris
Experimental Theatre. Classes normally start with warm up games to build energy and then break into small groups and perform shot shows for the remainder of the class.
They have six shows remaining in the fall semester, all of them on Wednesday nights. The next one is on September 26 at 9:30 p.m. The other four will be at 9:30 p.m. on October 17 and 31 and November 14 and 28.
The current members of the Flatliners are Sequan Davison, Crystal Mann, Tommy Waller, Carrie Palmer, Clayton Sullivan, Taylor Castillo, and Caitlynn Davidson. Both Tommy Waller and Caitlynn Davidson said that they enjoy being part of the Flatliners because they just like to perform for people.
The Flatliners are on Facebook and you can like their page at MVC Flatliners. MVC student R.J. Howes saw the performance and said that he enjoyed it but it is not something he would be interested in doing.
