Cheers, dancing, acrobatics, and funny-looking mascots were part of the performances of MVC teams and others at  the NAIA Regional Competition on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Burns gym. The Heart of America Conference championships also were held over that weekend.

competition, qualifying the squad to go to nationals, according to the MVC Viking Athletics newsletter. The MVC cheer team finished as national runner-up in 2012. The cheer squad will compete at the National Cheerleaders Association Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 10-14.

The MVC dance team took second in the HAAC Small Dance competition and fifth in the region. The Viking mascot, named Thor, took second in the HAAC competition and third in the region in the mascot competition.

Other teams that competed at the regional contest were from Lindenwood University, Baker University, and other universities and colleges.
