Twenty-four student scholars were honored at the annual Scholar Banquet on Thursday, April 4. Student scholars, who had to be a senior with a GPA higher than 3.3, were selected by individual departments for exemplifying outstanding scholarly and personal characteristics.
Mathematics associate professor Ed Leslie presented the Lamp of Knowledge award for best essay about “What Missouri Valley College Means to Me” to Sam Spurgin, who received a trophy and medallion and a $100 stipend.
The annual event was organized by a committee consisting of Ed and Wendy Leslie, Earl Wellborn, Sharon Weiser, and Sharon Hoeflicker.
