The members of Missouri Valley College International Club recruited new students during the students activities fair on the quad on August 27.

There are more than 40 countries where MVC international students are from. The MVC International Club had 17 members from more than 10 countries last year. Nina Wu was elected as a president this semester. She said 27 people already have signed up and she is excited about having new activities with new members.

The club will have a meeting twice a month, game night, and join the international fair. “You can know people from different countries and you can learn so many things about different cultures,” Wu said. She added it is also a good opportunity to improve English for students who speak English as a second language. It can be easy to make friends and learn to communicate  for international students if they have a chance to get to know each other in the club activities.

Not only international students can be members, but also any students are able to join the club. “Anyone can be a member,” Wu said. “We are going to make a speech about our own countries. It is going to be open to everyone. I think expressing things about our own culture and telling the differences will be a great experience for us,” she added.

The club is also planning other new events for this year including the international dinner. Diversity is one of the five core values for Missouri Valley College.
