Missouri Valley Vikings bounced back from losing against Ottawa two weeks ago. The No. 11 Missouri Valley Vikings on Saturday beat No. 15 MidAmerica Nazarene 33-9 at Gregg-Mitchell Field on Family Weekend night, Sept. 21.

MNU set the pace during the first quarter, having the Vikings punting on their first drive until MNU muffed a punt and linebacker Andrew Huhman recovered the punt, giving the Vikings the ball on the 36-yard line. On the first play of the MVC drive, quarterback Bruce Reyes threw a slant route to Jarell Davis scoring on a 64-yard touchdown, making the score 7-0 Vikings.

After the score both teams slowed the pace down. The first quarter ended with MNU punting to MVC on their 21-yard line. MVC marched down 12 plays and 71 yards. MNU stopped the Vikings from scoring with just 10 minutes on the clock, making MVC kick a field goal from Daniel Mouro and increasing the score to 10-0 for the Vikings.

On MVC’s next possession, the Vikings put on a great drive. An 89-yard drive took 13 plays when Bruce Reyes threw a corner route to Mikquel Johnson, making the score 17-0 in the first half.

Starting off with the second half, both teams had trouble starting the half right.  The Vikings were stopped by MNU, forcing them to punt. MNU muffed again, then put pick up by Brandon Samuels giving the Vikings the ball on their 25-yard line. The Vikings eventually scored with Malachi Daniels running the ball in, giving the Vikings a huge lead 24-0, with 6 minutes on the clock.

After the Vikings scored, MNU put on a drive scoring a 36-yard field goal because the Vikings defense stopped them from scoring, making the score 24- 3 in the beginning of the Fourth quarter.

The MVC Vikings had a great drive with Darrian Turk running a 63-yard play on a reverse all the way to the 13-yard line. The Vikings ended up scoring, running the ball in from James Tillman, extending the lead 31- 3.

The final scores in the fourth quarter ended up with MNU driving down and scoring a touchdown, kicking a field goal, but the field goal was block and score by Randolph Tribble, making the final score 33-9.

The Missouri Valley Viking football team is 1-0 in the HAAC conference, 1-1 overall. The Vikings will play Culver-Stockton at Stockton on September 28.
