Senior Night was played in the rain as Missouri Valley College and Lindenwod University took to the field Tuesday night at Gregg Mitchell Field.

Before the match, Valley recognized its seven seniors.

The Vikings seniors had a tough last home regular season game. Lindenwood came into the contest undefeated sporting a 14-0-1 record. The fourth-ranked Lions in NCAA Division II scored first in the 18th minute on a goal that just got by Viking senior goalkeeper Josh Wells.

The Vikings would put several shots on goal in the first half but they couldn’t find the back of the net.

Midway through the  half, senior Nickolas Alexander chipped one by the Lindenwood keeper to level the score at 1- goal apiece.

After two overtimes, the match ended in a draw.

After the match, Alexander said his goal was because of a good pass.

“It was a great pass by Albaro, and with keeper coming out so fast, I just flicked it past him,” Alexander said.

The game would have ended with a loss for Valley had not Wells made the necessary saves to keep his team in the game. He said his career at Valley has been special.

“Yeah, I’m going to miss the place, Wells said. “I’ve had a great four years and I’ve really enjoyed myself.”

The next match for the Vikings will be in the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament at home against Graceland University on Friday, November 8.
