Every year Missouri Valley College hosts a weekend event for the families of students and staff to experience a little life on the college’s beautiful campus. The event planned for Saturday is luau-themed family weekend .
“Valleypalooza” will start promptly at 1 p.m. with the “amazing Viking voyage.” The Viking voyage is MVC’s own version of the amazing race. Team will compete in various challenges around campus with the winning team will receiving a $100 gift card to the MVC bookstore.
At 2 p.m. MVC women’s volleyball team will take on Hannibal-LaGrange University.
From 3 p.m. till 6 p.m. tailgating and live music are also available to families. During this time families are able to listen to the Bruce Poe Band, enjoy a dinner ($5 per plate) and games. The first 125 student and parents that arrive even receive a free t-shirt.
At 6 p.m MVC football will take on Tabor College for their season opener.
“I think that Family weekend is opportunity for students to show their family what they are doing and where they are living away from home,” said Brett Fuchs, Director of Housing and Residence Life. “Most students move in alone and this weekend gives them a sense of home. This weekend is always is a success.”
