Vikings take top spots in rodeo stampedeSports

The Missouri Valley College men and women’s Rodeo teams won the championship for the Rodeo Stampede Saturday night. There were also five vikings that won in their individual competitions.

For the men, Dalton Kingery won the bareback riding competition and the bronc riding event, finishing with a score of 170 for both. He was followed  in bareback riding by teammates Matt Borton with 135 and Briar Dittmer 110. Fenton Nelson finished second in steer wrestling with a score of 110. To finish off the rodeo Justin Stoltz won the bull riding event with img_0728the final score of 60 points and Briar Dittmer finished with 50 points.

For the women, Breanna Ellis won in breakaway roping, ending with the score of 140 points. Freshman Kaitlyn O’Leary won goat tying with 180 points, and Kirby Crouse finished third with 75 points. Also placing third in their competition was Mallory Willard in barrel racing with 90 points.

The next rodeo for the Vikings will be the University of West Alabama rodeo in Livingston, Alabama, September 29 through October 1.
