Last week, a group of Missouri Valley College students majoring in business had the unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the Federal Reserve Bank. The visit included an informative guided tour of the Federal Reserve Bank located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Among the students who participated in this educational excursion, Tyler Freeman expressed his enthusiasm for the experience, emphasizing the importance of understanding the Federal Reserve’s role in the nation’s economy.

“It was really cool to be able to see one of the leading federal reserve banks in the country,” Freeman said. “Seeing an essential part of our country’s economy was an awesome experience. It was pretty cool to see that even as close as an hour and a half from Marshall, our country’s economy is leaning on something so close to home. I hope that Missouri Valley College can host more experiences like this in the future.”

During their visit, the students delved into the operations and functions of the bank, gaining valuable insights into the role of currency within the national economy. Following the educational tour, the students enjoyed a brief exploration of the Country Plaza in Kansas City. After a quick lunch at various eateries in the plaza, the students returned to Missouri Valley College.

With the fall semester in full swing on campus, similar enriching experiences are on the horizon for students. Those interested in participating in upcoming activities are encouraged to reach out to their professors for more information.

The visit to the Federal Reserve Bank provided a hands-on learning experience for Missouri Valley College students, shedding light on the intricacies of the nation’s monetary system and reinforcing the importance of financial education in today’s world.
