The annual Viking Stampede Rodeo, a flagship event in Missouri Valley College’s rodeo programs, is set to take place at the Saline County Fairgrounds from Thursday, September 21, through Saturday, September 23. Serving as the inaugural event for the 2023–24 rodeo season, this rodeo marks the Viking rodeo teams’ singular home appearance for the season. The event is anticipated to draw over 350 contestants hailing from 17 educational institutions across the southeastern United States.

Kooper Heimburg, a dedicated member of the rodeo team and a proficient bareback rider, eagerly anticipates his involvement in this year’s rodeo.

“We have a great group of guys this year, and it is going to be an awesome home rodeo. Coming off of our performance at the CNFR (College National Finals Rodeo), we all have a lot of confidence and are all riding well,” Heimburg said.

The Missouri Valley College Men’s team is riding high from their fourth-place finish at the CNFR, which also saw four of their athletes secure top 10 individual placements.

The rodeo’s schedule will see action commence at 7:00 p.m. every evening, culminating in the climactic short-round on Saturday.
