School started with three days of remote classes due the extreme weather conditions. Coming back to college after the break is never easy, imagine not only coming back but also dealing with icy roads, significant low temperatures, and inches of snow. Those are the terrible conditions that the Missouri Valley students had to face during the first two weeks of the semester.

Multiple flights and shuttles were canceled last minute making the arrival of students at campus impossible. Dulce Martinez from Texas explains the challenges she had to face.
“They canceled my flight two times and I ended up here the ninth instead of the seventh,” Martinez said. “When I got to the airport I had to do my classes there, and I didn’t want to turn on my camera because I didn’t want my teacher seeing that I had barely got in there,” she added.
Missouri Valley enacted the campus closure and classes were held virtually for three days. Since COVID year, online classes haven’t been a thing. For some students, the adaptation might have been challenging, for others like Freshman Chelsea Roman not.
“When I heard that it was going to be virtual I was like ‘okay, I’m going to be on track with stuff’,” Roman said. “I honestly felt relieved,” she added.
The weather is expected to rise again during the next weeks. Finally, leaving behind the ice and snow, and bringing back regular life on campus.
