The Missouri State Museum presents a traveling exhibit titled “Inherently Unequal: Segregated Education in Missouri c. 1800–1960,” which will be on display from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28 at the MVC Campus Murrell Library, located on the bottom floor.

This important exhibit sheds light on the challenges Black Missourians faced in accessing education during the 19th and early 20th centuries, highlighting the obstacles, dignity, and diligence with which many Black citizens sought to educate themselves in a system of inherently unequal schools.

Visitors and groups interested in learning more about this pivotal aspect of Missouri’s history can schedule a group tour by contacting Samantha Perkins at perkinss@moval.edu.

The exhibit is loaned by the Missouri State Museum and aims to educate and inspire thoughtful discussion on the history of segregated education in the state.
