Missouri Valley College has officially announced the departure of Elizabeth Bellamy from her position as Vice President of Academic Affairs, a role she has held since 2022. The college is now launching a nationwide search to find her successor. Bellamy, an attorney with extensive experience in academic administration, previously served as the associate dean of students at Missouri Valley before ascending to the vice presidency.
In response to Bellamy’s departure, President Joe Parisi has appointed Dr. Joe Alsobrook, currently the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Online Operations, to serve as the interim Vice President of Academic Affairs. Alsobrook, who has worked closely with Bellamy during her tenure, is praised for his qualifications and understanding of the college’s academic operations. Parisi expressed confidence in Alsobrook’s ability to manage the academic affairs division effectively during this transition period.
Furthermore, Dr. Gary Heisserer has been promoted to a full-time role as Coordinator of Academic Affairs, in addition to his existing duties related to institutional effectiveness. This move is part of the college’s efforts to ensure a seamless transition and maintain the high standard of academic leadership and management.
Parisi acknowledged the significant impact of Bellamy’s work at Missouri Valley College, stating, “We suffered a great loss with the departure of Bellamy but we are in good hands. We have a strong cabinet, and Dr. Alsobrook is well-equipped to handle the load.”
Parisi also extended his gratitude to Bellamy for her dedication and service, emphasizing the institution’s debt of gratitude for her contributions.
Bellamy, reflecting on her decision to step down, cited “personal and professional reasons” for her departure but affirmed her ongoing support for Dr. Parisi and the college. Her leadership period was marked by initiatives that enhanced the academic and operational aspects of Missouri Valley College, leaving a lasting impact on the institution.
The search for a new Vice President of Academic Affairs will begin immediately, as Missouri Valley College seeks to fill this critical leadership role with a candidate who can build on the strong foundation established under Bellamy’s guidance.
