Students at Missouri Valley College found various ways to enjoy their spring break. Some opted to visit family, while others sought out exciting destinations.

Sara Grateke, a student from Silex, Missouri, who plays on the basketball team, chose to spend her break with her family back home.

“Between school and basketball, I haven’t had much time to see my family, so I decided to use the break to spend time with them,” Grateke said.

On the other hand, Kyle Steel preferred a lively destination for his spring break and headed to Panama City, Florida.

“It was great because there were people of similar ages there for the same reason, to have a good time,” Steel said.

Brittany Gilliland managed to combine travel and family time during her break. Originally from Ash Grove, Missouri, she also has family in California.

“It was a win-win. I got to see my family whom I haven’t seen in a while, and I got to explore California,” Gilliland said. “Having this break was great; midterms are very stressful for us students, and a little fun was much needed.”

For students involved in spring sports like baseball, spring break takes on a different tone as they remain on campus.

Porter Fike, reflecting on this experience, said, “It was still nice not having classes for a week, but it wasn’t much of a break. It was actually pretty boring without everyone here.”
