The Missouri Valley Women’s Lacrosse team has achieved a 2-4 start this season, marking its best performance since the 2020-2021 season. James Davis, in his first year as head coach, brings eight years of lacrosse coaching experience to the team and a total of 25 years in coaching.

“We’ve already achieved one of our season’s goals, which was to win a game. Of course, the primary objective is to improve daily. We aim to establish a strong foundation for the future of women’s lacrosse here at MVC,” Davis said.

The team is focused on daily improvement, with hopes of advancing to the playoffs.

“Beating last season’s record, making the playoffs, and developing into better lacrosse players are some of the goals we’re striving for,” said Hailey Harmon, a sophomore midfielder.

Having won two games for the first time since the 2020-2021 season, the team aims to maintain its momentum with four more games ahead.

“The strategy to keep the momentum going is to play humbly, play hard and play fast,” Davis said.

Senior Midfielder Jada Fepuleai said the team is giving everything in practice to prepare for game days.

“We want to make all the mistakes, ask all the questions, and experiment during practice,” she said. “This way, we leave the field on game days knowing we’ve given our all. Hard work is the key to achieving victories.”

Davis also has a message for future MVC players: “Come with a strong work ethic, be ready to commit to hard work, display discipline, and together, we can build a stronger program here at MVC.”

The team is on the road today, facing Mount Mercy.
