Dr. Gerardo Acay, a distinguished professor at Missouri Valley College, has made significant contributions to the fields of Political Science and Public Administration, earning him the first Faculty Professional Development Award at the college.
With a rich background in teaching and research, Dr. Acay has presented numerous papers on Political Philosophy, International Relations, and Public Policy at conferences worldwide, from New York to London and Saint Petersburg. His notable work includes the publication of “On Lewis Fry Richardson’s Theory of ‘War Moods’: A Reconsideration” in the international journal “International Relations and Diplomacy.”
Before joining Missouri Valley College in September 1990, Dr. Acay built an impressive academic and teaching portfolio. He holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of the Philippines, where he also taught, before instructing at Steven’s College in Columbia from 1985 to 1989.
His dedication to scholarship and education has not only garnered accolades but also inspired the college’s president, Dr. Joe Parisi, who credits Dr. Acay as the inspiration behind the establishment of the professional development award.
Parisi said Acay was “my inspiration to start the professional development award for our faculty. His proposal was exceptional, and I hope he inspires others like he inspired me.”
Dr. Acay’s reaction to his achievements reflects his commitment to his work and appreciation for the recognition from his peers, stating it as a significant acknowledgment of his scholarly efforts at Missouri Valley College.
“It means that my work, my scholarly work here at Missouri Valley College, has been recognized by colleagues,” Acay said. “It means a lot to me. I am flattered and appreciative.”
