Missouri Valley College has seen its student population rise in recent years, and as a result one of the growing pains is that students don’t always get the classes they want during enrollment.

“Do not procrastinate picking what class you want to be in” said Courtney Campbell, an MVC admissions representative. “Classes are filling up quickly.”

Campbell, an MVC alum, noted that student enrollment has grown from approximately 1,200 during her time as a student to nearly 1,500 today. While most courses cap enrollment between 25 and 35 students, some are limited to as few as 10. Enrolling as early as possible helps ensure students get one of those seats.

Students are feeling the pressure, with Jayson Williams describing class selection as one of the most stressful aspects of college life due to fears of potentially delaying graduation.

“You are worried about being stuck in a class you don’t need and end up wasting time,” he said.

Jayden Hardy, an education major, echoes this sentiment, highlighting the challenges of finding assignments that align with his focus on development.

The overarching message from students and staff alike is clear: timely and strategic class registration is crucial to staying on course for graduation, emphasizing the importance of not wasting time in one’s academic journey at Missouri Valley College.
