The MVC football team held a kids camp for kindergarten through fifth-grade students.
They worked on punting, kicking and passing. They also did relay races and were able to tackle some bags.
“The goal was to meet the community and let them get to know our players,” said MVC Football Coach Casey Creehan.
Creehan also hopes to make this an annual thing.
Football player Michael Wissman stated
“It was fun to connect with kids in the community, and be someone they could look up to and help them with their football journey.”
Creehan hopes to create a big brother system with kids in the community with a football player who helps a younger athlete and is someone they can come to the games and root for.
Football player Noah Carr said: “It was nice to be a role model for them because a lot of kids lack male figures in their lives and to be able to step in for those kids and be like an older brother who teaches them life skills along with football was awesome.”
Creehan also said: “I thought our players did an excellent job, shoutout to them. It is really important to me that we connect with the community”… “We have some great student-athletes and I want the community to know that.”
Kids who attended the camp get their own special VIP section at the Valley Experience game. They also got coupons for a free hotdog and soda at the game.
