From new classes and new students to annual events and student activities, professors at Missouri Valley College are excited for what the new semester will bring.
Coming from teaching at a large university, Dr. Katie Armstrong looks forward to being able to adapt better to the smaller class sizes and the close knit atmosphere of Missouri Valley. Next year will be Armstrong’s second year at MVC and she’s excited to feel better prepared for her second year.
Armstrong wants to be a resource for new students now that she has gained confidence being here and getting a grasp of what it’s like to be a professor at Valley.
“I’m always excited to meet incoming students and help them,” Armstrong said. “Not only learn how to do public speaking but also help them adjust to college.”
The realization of a new semester hits Armstrong at the beginning ceremony, Convocation and throughout the fall and spring semesters she sees the growth and development among students until the ending ceremony, Commencement.
“I’m personally really excited for Commencement,” Armstrong said. “It’s going to be fun getting to see that big milestone for students that I’ve gotten to know.”
Similarly, Dr. Earl Wellborn is excited for football in the fall and he’s looking forward to his classes.
“I never get tired of those,” Wellborn said.
Psychology professor, Lee Jones, has been moved to an adjunct professor for next semester and will teach online. She still remains optimistic and excited about what the future holds.
“I’m looking forward to teaching online and still being a part of MVC,” Jones said.
She hopes that the psychology department will stay going strong and they will continue going to the psychology conference.
“It’s a great opportunity that allows students to have that experience,” Jones said.
