The Missouri Valley College Student Government Association (SGA) held a cookout on the quad Wednesday to promote the upcoming student election and provide relaxation ahead of a stressful week filled with final exams and plans of travel. The event was held during the lunch hour in the center of the campus to ensure that everyone could make it and participate.
The event included food, fun, and games. The SGA grilled hotdogs and hamburgers and served chips and a variety of snacks. Also at the event there were several games like spikeball and cornhole with the addition of frisbees and other entertainment. The students at the event really seemed to enjoy themselves.
Junior student Christopher Allison said: “ I don’t usually attend the school’s events mainly because of my schedule, but I was able to make this one and really had fun.”
While he came to have fun it would seem the majority of the people really just came to enjoy the food.
Sophomore Damon Williams said: “ Nothing beats a good burger and hotdogs.”
While the students came to have fun and enjoy the food the SGA took the great turn out to push the student body to come out on the following Friday and vote for the people that would be leading them going into the next semester.
Senior student and SGA representative Kary Patron said: “ We love to see the students getting involved on campus and hope that we will receive the same turnout when it is voting time”
The results of the election will be posted as early as the Wednesday of finals week.
