A new Center for Excellence is opening in Murrell Library allowing education students to view and participate in class observations.
The Center for Excellence will also have new technology, private study rooms, and testing rooms. This comes after the Student Learning Center was relocated to the library.
Assistant Dean of Library and Academic Support Services Samantha Perkins is excited about this new change.
“I’m excited about the impact this will have on not just our campus but our community too,” Perkins said.
The new center will bring in community schools allowing public school teachers to teach from the classroom while MVC education majors can watch through the observation room.
“It’s an opportunity to get more experience for education majors,” Perkins added.
Education major Abigail Walters is very excited and supportive of this new addition.
“I strongly believe that the establishment will have a profound impact on all education majors,” she said. “This initiative will provide us students with the invaluable opportunity to engage in immersive learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.”
Walters is confident that this will change the game for the future of the education program and MVC and is excited to see its impact.
Sophomore Catalina Ramirez praised the school for adding many new resources for students to utilize.
“I’m so glad to see the campus adding more student recourses for us to use,” she said. “The Center of Excellence will be a great place for education majors to come together.”
