When the Missouri Valley College Track and Field teams competed in the Heart of America Indoor Conference Championships in Maryville, Freshman Dante Gordon broke Valley’s 400 meter record from 32 years ago. Another freshman, Montique Griffiths, went on to break Valleys 600 meter record this past weekend as well. The Vikings will now focus on preparing for the CMU open to start their outdoor season on March 15.

Valley’s Women’s Basketball fell to Grand View University 66-60 in Des Moines, Iowa on Feb 15. Giavana Moore led the Vikings with 21 points. The teams exchanged leads the whole game until the fourth quarter but Grand View scored the last 6 points of the game and held Valley off the last two minutes to win.

The Lady Vikings moved to 17-6 in conference before going on the road to notch a victory 83-57 against Park on Feb. 19. The Vikings closed out their regular season with an 85-78 win at home against Culver-Stockton Saturday. They now head into the playoffs with a game tonight at home against Mount Mercy. 

The Viking’s Men’s Basketball team lost a close game against Grand View University on the road as well. Valley held a 34-28 lead until Grand View managed to score 40 points in the second half, tying up the game and sending it into overtime. Grand View took an early lead in overtime and won 82-75. The men moved to 12-16 overall.

Park University proved to be a tough opponent for Vikings, handing the team an 85-67 road loss. However, the team put on a commanding performance at home for senior night, defeating Culver-Stockton University 85-75. The Vikings head into playoffs on Feb. 26 with a game at Baker University.

Valley’s number 12 ranked Men’s Volleyball was defeated 3-1 by number 5 Park University in Parkville, Mo . The Vikings fall to 0-2 in the Conference and 4-2 overall. Park took the first two sets of the match but Valley battled back to win the third set. Park went on to win the last set 25-17. The Vikings are set to travel to Ottawa, Kansas today to play Ottawa University.
