Housing enrollment for the 25-26 school year is now open for Missouri Valley College students. Students planning to live on campus can go to their Valley email and fill out the application by the deadline of May 2 for returning students and August 23 for new students.

It is important for students to know when and how to successfully apply for housing:

“The deadline for pre-selection is the 31 of March, which is when everyone should have pre-selected. Honor students pick first on the 24 and then seniors the next day, juniors, sophomores and then freshmen,” said Jo-Elle Natividad, Interim Housing Director.

For incoming freshmen, the process is slightly different.

“Incoming freshmen are normally placed by me according to what they profiled, of course, what the roommate lottery kind of says,” Natividad said.

Students have already begun applying for housing and completing the process early. Returning student Logan Gosney found the application process to be simple.

“Applying for housing was very simple,” he said. “As a returner I knew my way around the system.”

Returning students will have their information saved whereas incoming freshmen will have to start this process for the first time.

Incoming freshman Emalyn Turner has finished the application process for next fall and shares her experience navigating the system.

“It was easy and walked me right through every step once I had all my personal information and account set up,” she said. “It was simple and easy to navigate. It also was not very time-consuming.”

Although students navigated the system easily, students also feel that changes could be made to help ease the process of selecting a dorm.

“The school could possibly make it easier for incoming freshmen by making the dorm and their attributes easier to find, although some are found on the website, people might just pick a random dorm,” Gosney said

Student Affairs is working towards improving this process for students. As she works with IT and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Terry Russell, it will take some time to make these changes, Natividad said.

Natividad’s office is in the Student Affairs office in the Malcolm Center and her email is jrn7506@moval.edu. She is more than willing to answer any questions students have.
