Missouri Valley College’s spring semester is coming to a close, which means that finals week will be here in no time. Students planning to leave early from campus will need to arrange their finals through the final exam policy.

Cynthia Bice, vice president of academic affairs, would like to remind students about the procedures for seeking changes to the final examination schedule. Students must complete a Final Examination Alternative time form, available at the Academic Affairs Office. If doing so, students must submit the form no later than Thursday, April 10. Bice will then review requests and notify the students and instructors.

Bice stressed that late requests will not be accepted unless there is an emergency situation.

“The cost of a plane ticket is not considered an emergency circumstance, so please plan your flight itinerary for after your scheduled finals,” she said.

Approved requests come with a $100 fee per day of affected exams, payable two weeks before finals. Up to five alternative times will be offered based on availability. If students are unable to attend an alternative time, they must take the exam at the original time or receive a zero.

For those needing greater travel flexibility, extended access to campus can be requested. Students wishing to stay in residence halls past the scheduled move-out dates must process the request through the office of Student Affairs.

These changes aim to accommodate students’ changing needs while maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
