Missouri Valley College has been actively addressing student housing needs and exploring the pros and cons of these developments which reflect MVC’s commitment to enhancing student life and accommodating its growing community.
The college has recently adjusted its housing tier structure, moving from four tiers to three, with pricing now determined by the number of people in a room.
“This clearer structure offers students more insight into costs, but affordability depends on individual preferences,” said Jo-Elle Natividad, Director of Housing at MVC, noting that while shared spaces may be cost-effective for some, others prioritize the privacy of single rooms.
Rising enrollment has also made housing availability more limited, potentially reducing flexibility for switching rooms.
Natividad said that as the college works to address housing issues, student adaptability will be key.
“Dorm and community life is really what you make of it,” she said. “As a senior, I valued the experience of living in Viking Village. But I also understood that a single dorm is a privilege, not a guarantee.”
Marcus Tatum, an MVC student, said he enjoys living in a shared dorm with another roommate because he likes his roommate. He said he’s got the best roommate he could ever ask for.
As MVC navigates rising enrollment and explores these exciting opportunities, the college remains dedicated to supporting student growth and fostering a vibrant campus experience. MVC will try to enrich college life for its community and housing.
