The Missouri Valley College Delta student journalists won five awards at the Missouri College Media Association’s 2025 conference, which was held on April 12 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
The Delta competes in MCMA Division 3, which includes schools like Evangel University, Park University, and Drury University.
Raychael Moseley, the Delta’s managing editor, took first place in news writing. Moseley was recognized for her work covering the departure of Mike Machholz, who was in his second year as athletic director after having served more than 30 years as a wrestling coach.
In addition to Moseley’s award, MCMA judges presented the Delta with the following awards:
– Taylor Greife and Sophie De Rouin received first place in the investigative reporting category.
– Tyler Conkright received third place in sports writing
– The staff of KMVC News received second and third place in the news video category for videos displayed on the Delta website.
The Delta students work under the supervision of advisor Chris Post, instructor of mass communication. Post praised the efforts of his students, noting the relative youth of MVC’s award winners.
“The four reporters who were recognized by the MCMA judges were first- and second-year students when they wrote their respective articles,” he said. “The fact that they took first place in the very competitive newswriting and investigative reporting categories is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”
In addition to being published on this website, the work of MVC’s print journalism students can be seen weekly in print version The Delta, which is distributed on campus.
