Students at Missouri Valley College gathered on the quad Friday afternoon for a Field Day event featuring a water slide, games like cornhole and a raffle with prizes.

Designed as a way to give students a break before finals, the event offered friendly competition, a chance to unwind, and the opportunity to win prizes. Students competed in games, enjoyed the water slide, and entered a raffle for a shot at gift cards and other rewards.

“It’s fun and nice to relax before things get crazy with finals,” said junior Vasil Stoimenov, who spent the afternoon playing cornhole with friends. “Plus, I got to destroy my friend in games.”

Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick, who won a $20 gift card to Sonic, said the event was both calming and exciting.

“I got to have fun playing cornhole with my friends and I got to win $20,” she said.

Freshman Justin Davis said the water slide offered just the right distraction.

“The water slide was fun and cold, but at least I got some kind of excitement out of it,” Davis said. “I got out of class, took my shirt off and got to business, needed something to get my mind off of finals.”

With finals week just around the corner, students appreciated the chance to take a break, recharge, and have a little fun before the semester’s final push.
