Students across campus gave insight into changes they would like to see in the upcoming fall semester. Renovations and improved parking lots show a common theme amongst students when asked what Missouri Valley College needs next year.
Ideas ranged from better food in the cafeteria to more professors ensuring more course options. However, students believe that the more essential updates are, students’ personal spaces on campus and the paving around these spaces.
“I think MVC needs better modifications or even renovations in the current housing options,” sophomore Aidan Oldham said. “A lot of the buildings are older and could use new flooring and reconstruction.”
She explained further that this could help prevent deterioration or the potential occurrence of mold. Senior Willie Bullock agreed that student living spaces need improvement.
“MVC needs better housing and to renovate the living space, but also have clean and sanitized dorms when students arrive on campus,” he said.
Although dorm renovations are needed, students also agree that the parking lots on campus and near the dorm buildings need to be redone.
“One thing I think MVC needs next year is to redo the parking lots, and maybe add more parking spots,” sophomore Audrie Nate said.
Other students also believe the importance of paving improvements, including sophomore Kyleigh Browning.
“MVC needs to improve the entrances and exits of the parking lots and make them flatter,” she said. “They also need to repave because of potholes.”
