If you missed it, you missed out. Missouri Valley College’s BelongBQ lit up the Quad with the kind of energy that turned an ordinary Monday into a lively campus cookout.
From the first burger on the grill to the last bite of ribs, the event drew students, staff and even a few alumni for an evening that celebrated food, friendship and community.
But the real magic wasn’t just the barbecue—it was the people. Students mixed nerves with excitement as they met new friends and strengthened old bonds. For one night, the Quad became the center of campus life.
“It’s really just about having fun and getting to meet new people,” said student Myles Kea. “Having fun with the boys and chilling tonight.”
For some, the highlight was the food.
“I love barbecue, and my main meal is ribs,” said student Sovinti Johnson. “On the side I love the baked beans.”
Others pointed to what the event represented about MVC itself.
“We are all athletes, and each and every one of us puts in a lot of effort to get here—including at their events as well,” said student Tayshaun Waldrop. “That’s what makes MVC stand out.”
For freshman Zoey Brooke, the BelongBQ was a chance to build connections.
“Getting to meet new people on campus and trying the good food tonight—that’s what I’m excited for,” Brooke said.
Student Hailie Jarrett summed up the evening with a focus on community.
“What’s successful is where it’s at—on the Quad,” Jarrett said. “Getting to know your peers, having a great time with friends and enjoying the food.”
With laughter, music and the smell of barbecue filling the air, the BelongBQ delivered more than a meal—it brought Missouri Valley College together.
