The Missouri Valley College Spirit Squad is preparing for a special performance at Kauffman Stadium before the Kansas City Royals game. On game day, the team will take the stage in right field before first pitch, marking a milestone moment for Missouri Valley.
Head Coach Kristen Revis stated, “I have done this previously in St. Louis with the Cardinals. I called to ask if the Royals did anything like this and at the time they told me no. I have been working with them for almost a year to have this opportunity and we will be the first spirit teams, according to our contact at the Royals, to do this at Kauffman.”
Head Cheer Coach Nick Lutz added, “We plan to start with a performance of the ‘cheer’ section of our UCA Nationals routine. After the cheer portion, the Dance team will perform a routine, and we plan to allow some open time for the athletes to showcase skills and interact with the crowd.”
The performance will be a two minute collaboration between cheer and dance, combining stunts, tumbling, and pom. The squads are blending elements of familiar routines with new skills to create something exciting for the crowd.
Fans and students can purchase tickets through this link. Shuttles will be available for students traveling to the game, but spots are limited. Students will need to sign up in Coach Revis’s office with proof of ticket purchase.
Coach Revis said the team is eager for the moment: “We are looking forward to an exciting day at the ballpark!”
The Spirit Squad’s performance at Kauffman Stadium will not only showcase the talent of Missouri Valley athletes but also highlight a historic first for Royals fans. With both teams bringing their energy to the big stage.
