Missouri Valley College will celebrate Homecoming 2025 with a full weekend of events Oct. 24–25. This year’s theme is “Ignite Traditions,” and the schedule includes the Viking parade, men’s and women’s soccer matches, alumni honors, a torch run, bonfire, tailgate, football game, block party, men’s basketball game, food trucks and social gatherings.

Tickets and registration are required for select events, including the Outstanding Alumni Banquet, the 50+ Club Breakfast and the Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch.

James Rowlett, director of student affairs, said he looks forward to the reunion atmosphere.

“Yes, of course — I’m just happy to see what’s changed and what’s still here and to hear their stories,” Rowlett said. “Seeing the joy on alumni faces when they return to the place they spent four years of their life is life-changing.”

Rowlett also emphasized the importance of connecting the campus with the wider community.

“We try to make it so they feel a part of it, not just on campus,” he said. “We want it to be better for the community, so that people who don’t go to MVC can still come out and join us.”

Students also expressed excitement about the festivities.

“Yes, I’m going to Homecoming,” MVC student Dalen Kincade said. “I’m excited for the week and ready to see all the events planned. It’ll be fun, especially the football game.”

Another student, Brandon George, said he plans to attend some of the events.

“I’ll go to a few events and support,” he said. “I won’t be there long, but I’ll definitely be at the basketball game.”

Head football coach LaQuentin Black said the game against Missouri Baptist will be a highlight of the weekend.

“Homecoming, with those types of games, it’s usually great for our community and our school to get everybody involved with the festivities,” Black said. “I think the big thing is making sure our guys understand what this entails while staying focused on the task at hand as we prepare for the opponent.”

Black said Missouri Baptist will present a challenge.

“They’ve always been respected for having quality athletes, and we’ll be excited to face them here on our home field,” he said. “They’re definitely going to be competitive, and we’re excited to get the matchup. It’ll be an exciting time.”

As for concerns, Black said his main focus is on keeping the team sharp.

“No, right now it’s just making sure we keep guys healthy and stay focused on one play at a time,” he said. “We talk to our kids all the time about making daily deposits — staying focused one play at a time, one day at a time, and taking care of ourselves.”
