For the second year in a row, Missouri Valley College’s Department of Student Affairs will host a Virtual Reality (VR) Game Night. In partnership with Murrell Library, students will have the chance to play with VR headsets and compete against each other. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 14.
James Rowlett, director of student activities, said the idea for the event came from noticing growing interest among students.
“We started this event last year when I noticed a large number of people who were interested in playing VR games but never had the opportunity to actually try it out,” Rowlett said. “We have the equipment on campus, so why not make it accessible for students to enjoy?”
Rowlett said the success of events like VR Game Night could lead to new opportunities for using the technology in other areas across campus.
“There are a lot of different things that the VR sets can do,” Rowlett said. “This will allow us to open the door to much more than just a VR game night. For example, the nursing program uses them for simulation labs and more.”
