Missouri Valley President Dr. Joseph Parisi announced plans for a new initiative called “Podcast with the President,” a project aimed at sharing campus stories and strengthening connections with students, alumni, and the surrounding community.

The podcast is currently in the planning and research phase, with the goal of releasing its first episode in the fall.

The proposed podcast would focus on sharing stories from across campus and feature the experiences of students, faculty, and programs. Dr. Parisi said the initiative is part of a larger effort to tell more stories about the college and provide another way for the campus community to stay connected.

“It’s a new way to connect with the student body and alumni,” Parisi said.

Parisi also said one of the main goals of the project is to support intentional recruitment efforts. By highlighting academic programs, student organizations, campus life, and student experiences, the podcast could help prospective students better understand what the college offers and encourage them to consider enrolling at Missouri Valley College.

Planning for the podcast is taking place with the support of a facility advisory board that is exploring how the project could fit into the college’s broader media efforts. Part of those discussions includes the possibility of upgrading the campus radio station to support expanded programming and new types of content.

Athletics broadcasting may also play a role in the effort, with the Viking Sports Network already gaining recognition for strong athletic media coverage.

“The Viking Sports Network is being used as an example for other NAIA schools, and that makes me proud,” Dr. Parisi said.

Dr. Parisi also noted that the project could create new opportunities for students interested in media production and communications. The initiative could potentially open the door to internships and scholarships for students looking to gain hands-on experience in broadcasting.

Although the project remains in its early stages, Dr. Parisi said the goal is to ensure the podcast is developed carefully before it launches.

“I’m very proud of this campus,” he said. “If we do this, I want to make sure we do it right.”
