The Missouri Valley College men’s volleyball team stepped onto a different court March 6 and 7, trading its usual venue for Marshall High School as it faced Grand View and William Penn. The temporary move gave players a chance to compete in a new setting while continuing conference play.

Playing in a different gym can change everything from the feel of the court to the energy in the stands. Players said preparation helped them stay focused despite the unfamiliar surroundings.

Luca Hasse reflected on the adjustment after the matches.

“Although the roof was lower than usual, we felt confident because of our practice sessions beforehand.”

Hasse also spoke about the overall atmosphere during the games.

“I think it was good,” he said. “I mean, we struggled a little bit in the second game against Grandview, but I think it was good.”

Teammate Loan Fargier shared a similar perspective, noting the differences in crowd size and environment.

“It was different because the crowd wasn’t the same and there weren’t as many people,” he said. “But we felt very confident since we had practiced a lot beforehand.”

Guillerme Lorenzini also commented on the team’s performance, saying that he saw the team playing very well even though it was a different court.

Despite the change in location, the team maintained its focus and teamwork throughout the matches. Adjusting to new environments is a common challenge for athletes during a long season, and players said preparation and communication helped them stay ready to compete.

Missouri Valley is expected to return to its home court for upcoming matches as the season continues.
