Missouri Valley College hosted an alumni social on March 20 at Montague’s in downtown Marshall, giving former students and current Vikings a chance to connect, share experiences and build professional relationships.

The event, organized by the Missouri Valley Alumni Office, was designed to help graduates stay connected to the college while offering students an opportunity to meet alumni and learn about life after graduation.

Event coordinator Reagan Godsey said alumni gatherings remain an important way to maintain relationships and create networking opportunities. She said the office works to host events throughout the year to keep alumni engaged.

“I try to have one Alumni Event per month in some capacity, whether it’s Homecoming, the Winter Sports Social, or our Annual Alumni Golf Tournament,” Godsey said.

Several alumni attended the event and spoke with students about their experiences at Missouri Valley and beyond.

Jon Stockman, a 2004 graduate and former football team captain, encouraged students to take advantage of opportunities during their time on campus.

“Experience everything you can while you’re here,” he said.

Dallas Hopping, a 2019 graduate from Little Rock, Arkansas, moved to Marshall after attending Missouri Valley. He emphasized the lasting impact of relationships formed during college.

“The people I met at Valley are friends for the rest of my life,” he said.

Godsey said strong connections between alumni and students can lead to internships and career opportunities. She added that alumni involvement helps students see possible paths after graduation.

“Alumni socials help bridge the gap between students and alumni; they can open the door for possibilities,” she said.

The event created a relaxed setting where students and alumni could reconnect, share advice and strengthen the sense of community at Missouri Valley College.
