The Missouri Valley College Men’s Soccer team defeated Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) 12-1 in their last regular season game. This victory also moved the team up in the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll from No.10 to No.8.
Paulo Alves started Valley’s lead within the first minute of play, making his first goal of his two goal game. The Vikings continued to dominate and turned their lead into an 8-0 lead by the end of the half.
Opening the second half Luka Gluscevic scored bringing Valley up one. Culver was awarded a penalty kick, and made the shot, knocking the deficit to 9-1. The Vikings offense continued to dominate scoring three more goals giving them the 12-1 victory over the Wildcats.
Mike Moser finished the game with four goals and three assists which makes him tied with the most goals scored in a single game. Alves finished with two goals and one assist followed by Gluscevic with one goal and one assist.
Timmo Dekker, Pablo Segovia, Luke Sowerby, Jack Mackenzie and Sam Green all had one goal each. This 12 goal scoring game is the top scoring conference game since 2002 for Missouri Valley.
“Our postseason goal is Making it to the final site and to try to repeat what we accomplished last season.” Head Coach Vladimir Simic said.
The Vikings will host the Heart Postseason Tournament quarterfinal game at Gregg-Mitchell Field Friday at 7 p.m.
