Pi Delta Sigma, a collegiate society committed to promoting traditional journalistic values among its students, officially adopted its founding charter on May 1, 2024, marking a significant milestone in Missouri Valley College’s commitment to enhancing media literacy and ethical journalism practices on campus.

Pi Delta Sigma was founded by six dedicated students: Sophie De Rouin, Taylor Greife, Raychael Moseley, Kary Patron, Pedro Santos and Colin Williams. These founding members represent a diverse cross-section of the Missouri Valley College community, each bringing unique perspectives and a shared commitment to journalistic excellence.

Williams, a sophomore majoring in Mass Communication, has been elected as the organization’s first President. Serving alongside Williams, Moseley has been elected as Vice President, and Taylor Greife will undertake the responsibilities of Secretary/Treasurer.

Chris Post, an instructor in the Mass Communication department, will serve as advisor to the group.

“The founding of Pi Delta Sigma is a call to action for all student journalists to practice diligence, fairness, and independence in their reporting,” Post said.

The chapter is planning a series of activities and workshops for the coming academic year, including guest lectures, ethical journalism workshops, and partnerships with local media outlets. These initiatives are designed to provide practical experience and networking opportunities for members, fostering a strong foundation for their future careers.
