Following a season with a 15-17 record, MVC announced Nicole Murphy as the new Head Coach of Women’s Volleyball.

Junior Hailey Harmon is excited about the new season and hopes the new addition will bring the team to new heights.

“This year will be great,” said Harmon “She is pushing us every day and making us better.”

For her part, Murphy has a clear vision for where she wants the volleyball program.

“My goal is to elevate the program,” Murphy said. “I want to bring this team to the top of the Heart Conference.”

Murphy was the assistant coach at both Avila University and Iowa Lakes Community College. She is prepared and ready for the upcoming season.

“She pushes us to be our best selves on and off the court and puts an emphasis on having respect for ourselves and others no matter the situation,” said freshman Jada Wright.

Coach Murphy is a mother of two, who was born and raised in Jefferson City. After high school, she attended Columbia College and played volleyball there for four years. She also coached at three high schools prior to coming to Valley.
