With the signing of a new 2 + 2 articulation agreement, students from State Fair Community College will now be able to attend Missouri Valley College without fear of losing credits.
An articulation agreement is one that ensures all credits will transfer over from a two year community college and be applied to a bachelor’s degree at a four year college. The document was signed by MVC President Dr. Joseph Parisi, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Cynthia Bice, SFCC President Dr Brent Bates and SFCC Vice President of Academics and Student Success Dr. Michael Murders on May 2.
President Dr. Joseph Parisi said he was passionate about community college’s having been from one himself. Parisi also emphasized his excitement in more people having access to higher education.
The SFCC Director of Adult Education and Literacy April Godwin attended the event, excited for what this means for those students who don’t have english as a first language.
SFCC President Dr. Brent Bates also noted the waitlist for English as a second language training,
“We have a several month waiting list for English as a second language training, throughout our region and we know that there’s strong demand here in this community as well, we’re really excited about that.” adding “For many of those students that’s the pathway to higher education.”
