The Lady Vikings are preparing for the upcoming season, hoping to make it a successful one.
Coach Andre Scott had a lot of positive things to say about his team. Preseason has started and the ladies are already within their 24-week rule.
The Vikings are smaller in numbers this year than they were in the previous one, but have new additions to the team that could help them improve in this season.
“We have seven new transfers, and some promising freshmen on the roster this year,” Scott said.
There are 10 seniors on the team this year, and one player that stands out to a lot of students is Madison Belanger. Belanger is from Lee Summit and plays Guard for the Lady Vikings.
“I expect a high energy team with a lot of drive,” said Belanger.
There’s not too many set leaders on team, but Belanger does her best to be one of the leading role models for her teammates. It has been said that the ladies have already formed a strong bond, even with the newcomers on the team.
The Missouri Valley women’s basketball team’s first game will be at 6 p.m. November 1 , and will be against the Falcons of Friends University.
