Missouri Valley College introduced the latest volume of Purple Patch during a release party last week.
The project is the work of students of Sigma Tau Delta and the International English Honor Society. Within this they had released two issues which contained students work from 2019-2021.
This event was to help honor the authors and artists that took their time into creating their work. With all the talent that is shown within their work, they want students, faculty and staff to be able to hear and converse with the authors and artists.
Claire Schmidt, who is the new adviser for Sigma Tau Delta, said her favorite part of The Purple Patch is the combination of the various arts, creative writing and also much academic research. She also likes the fact that their work will be around for a very long time, which means it will be read by the future students of Missouri Valley College.
“The Purple Patch gives our students the chance to share their excellent writing and art with a wider audience, and it also gives our students the chance to gain valuable professional experience in editing and publishing.” Schmidt said. “We’re so proud of the artists, writers, and editors whose hard work makes volume XIX and XX beautiful, intense, and inspiring!”
For anyone who has interest in turning work for the future issues of The Purple Patch, they should submit their work as a pdf file to purplepatch@moval.edu.
