Women’s volleyball falls to Park University

The Missouri Valley College Women’s Volleyball team fell to No. 4 ranked Park University in three close sets on Sept. 14. The Vikings battled in three hard sets with scores of 19-25, 22-25,20-25. Park was the first conference game for the Vikings, making them 0-1 in the Heart of America Conference and 5-10 overall this season. 

Park led the first set 4-1 but Valley rallied bringing the score 5-4. Towards the end of the first match MVC gained the lead 22-18, but the Pirates pushed through to take the first game. Valley led 4-0 the second set, but Park was quick to answer back. The game continued to go back and forth until Park jumped on top to finish game two. The Vikings also led the beginning of game three having a 6-3 advantage, but Park made a comeback to take the lead. The pirates quickly turned their lead into a 23-17 score and finished out the three game series winning 25-20. 

Although the Vikings fell short of Park, the ladies led in kills. Having 37 kills to Park’s 32. Valley also led in attacks with 89, but unfortunately had 20 errors. Abby Hebert and Lynsey Day led the team with 16 assists each. Lauren Nousch led with nine kills followed by Kylee Meares with eight. 

The Vikings host their Senior Weekend against Mount Mercy on Friday September 24, 2021.
