Missouri Valley College students say campus Wi-Fi is reliable in some areas but inconsistent and frustrating in others, with performance varying depending on location and usage.

Many students describe the connection as decent but unreliable at times. Student Katharina Koenecke said the Wi-Fi works well most of the time, especially in academic buildings.

“Everything loads pretty fast,”  said Koenecke.

She said she rarely has issues with the facilities on campus. She would note that the connection in Burns isn’t very good.

Other students expressed concerns about speed and performance, especially during gaming and high-usage activities.

Student Jean Russell said the connection often slows down when multiple devices are connected.

“So all of the devices that are connected to the internet just make it slow in general,” Russell said.

He said he experiences frequent lag and difficulty accessing certain games.

Russell would also point out that Wi-Fi connections differ across campus, saying some dorms have better connections compared to others.

The main factor affecting Wi-Fi performance appears to be location. Nursing major Jamia Smith said her dorm connection is generally stable, but other areas are less reliable.

“I be trying to scan my stuff. It won’t load,” Smith said.

She said using the MVC mobile app or accessing services in certain buildings can take significantly longer due to a weak connection.

Overall, students said Wi-Fi at Missouri Valley College meets basic needs but could benefit from improvements in speed, consistency and coverage. As digital access plays a growing role in academics and daily life, students said a reliable internet connection remains an important part of the college experience.
