From anatomy to psychology, students at Missouri Valley College say certain classes are proving especially challenging this semester.

Daniela Mazanares said anatomy is the hardest class for her this semester. She said she expected it to be challenging from the start.

“I expected the class to be difficult.” She said

She said the amount of material to memorize makes the course especially demanding.

“This class will be useful for my professional future,” Mazanares said.

She added that the class causes a high level of stress, rating it a 10 out of 10.

Marlene Flores said Adult Abnormal Psychology is her most difficult class this semester.

“I thought Spring 2026 Adult Abnormal Psychology would be interesting, but I did not think it would be this hard with much reading and analyzing,” Flores said.

Despite the difficulty, Flores said she believes the course will benefit her career.

“I think [the class] will help me a lot in my career because it teaches me about mental health problems and how to work with other people,” Flores said.

Alanna Neilsen, a nursing student, said the challenge is not always the material itself, but the time and effort required.

“I don’t think it’s the classes that are hard, it’s the constant dedication that the classes require and maintaining a life outside studying,” Neilsen said. “It’s hard to keep work at work and not bring home these feelings.”

Some students said balancing coursework with personal life can be just as difficult as the classes themselves.
