The Marshall Board of Public Works approved the annual budget for Marshall Municipal Utilities at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, August 26.

Controller Tony Bersano presented the revised budget with some slight changes. 

One change adds equipment for the IT and Broadband Department. Bersano said the department has been borrowing equipment from other MMU departments.

“Jim needs some equipment for the broadband department,” Bersano said. “He’s been borrowing.”

Bersano said MMU is exploring funding options through the U.S. Department of Agriculture to purchase the equipment.

The proposed budget expenditures total $29,652,813 in operating costs, with an additional $11,038,676 in long-term improvements. The budget forecasts revenues of $37,127,867. 

The budget also includes $50,000 for inflow and infiltration improvements, with half expected to be used for manhole rehabilitation.

Following the presentation, the board unanimously approved the annual budget as presented, and it will be sent to the Marshall City Council for approval.
