Overwatch team sees early success

The Missouri Valley College Overwatch team competed in its first fall tournament of the competitive season on October 12, finishing third of the top 64 teams in the world.

The team started the tournament with a convincing 2-0 win over Bryant & Stratton in the opening round. In the round of 32, the Vikings faced Averett and took another 2-0 victory, moving them into the next round of the tournament.

The Vikings next faced off against George Mason University in the round of 16 and were able to secure another 2-0 win over their opponents.

Moving into the round of 8, the Vikings were matched up against a very good Boston University squad but the Vikings kept the momentum going and secured their fourth 2-0 victory of the tournament.

The MVC team moved along into the final four of the tournament facing off against one of the top ranked teams in the world, the University of Toronto.

The Vikings hot streak was brought to an end at the hand of UT, falling 2-0 and finishing third. The season continued on October 26 with  the Vikings ESports team looking to capitalize on their early season success. 

The team came out early and earned a 2-0 win over the University of California at Santa Cruz moving onto the next round. Unfortunately the vikings had an early exit from the tournament falling 2-0 to San Jose State University in the round of 32.

The team looked to channel the success they found in the first tournament of the season, and put the last tournament behind them as they moved into the last tournament of the 2019 season. 

The final tournament of the season started off well for the Vikings earning a convincing 2-0 win over Ohio Christian University.

Moving into the round of 16 the Vikings face a very tough matchup against St. Clair College, the Vikings fell in their closest match of the season a close 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Saints.

The Vikings ESports team begins their 2020 campaign on January 13 when they compete in the Gamestop Weeklies, competing against the best of the best again.
