Resume assistance available for students

By Zahir Williams / Delta Staff Writer

Students at Missouri Valley College looking for assistance to improve their resume can find assistance in the Student Success Center, located in the Ferguson Center right next to the cafeteria.

Beth McCrary is the career councilor and she is available and willing to help students build your resume. She is also on hand to help with a number of other job search and preparation services.

“Part of my services that are offered through my office are mock interviews, review resumes, and review cover letters,” McCrary said. “You can email me your resumes or cover letters, I will go through those to look for errors or additions you can make. Also find ways to make your resumes look more attractable so that they will get a closer look whenever you send them to perspective employers.”

Students who come in and get help with their resumes usually end up with good suggestions on how to make their resumes more eye-catching to perspective employers because interviewers will be looking at hundreds of other resumes. McCrary specializes in getting those resumes recognized and making sure students get an interview from the jobs they want.

McCrary’s colleagues all love her and think she is the most helpful person in the student success offices.

Elizabeth Bellamy, associate dean of students, has nothing but great things to share about her nearby office mate.

“Beth is a great councilor,” she said.

The Student Success Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

McCrary’s email address is mccraryb@moval.edu and her phone number is (660) 831-4260.
