Women’s volleyball struggles to find chemistry

To say it has not been a great start to the season for Missouri Valley College’s women’s volleyball team this year is a bit of an understatement.

The Vikings have been having a rough time against their competition, sitting at a record of 1-20 on the season, and 0-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Despite the lack of wins, head coach Tamika Drake believes there is progress in the season.  Drake mentioned that the team is experienced, but are new when it comes to playing with each other.  This could be a reason that the team is having a tough start, because of the lack of chemistry with one another and the fact there are transfers on the team now.

“The team should play consistent, and focus on killing their errors on the court,” Drake said. “Defensively the team is strong, chemistry is just in the process.”

Senior Madison Kisner is a pin hitter for the Vikings who is known for her ability to be loud and communicate with her team while she’s on the court.

“The team needs constant energy,” she said,  adding that she believes there are promising young players who just needs exposure.

Up next, the Viking women’s volleyball team travels to Fayette, Tuesday, for a match with No. 14 Central Methodist University at 7 p.m.
